Here are my thoughts on investing in real estate in 2021.

 

I’ve had a few lunches here at the beginning of the year to catch up with people, and one of the questions that came up often was phrased like this: ”Hey, should I be thinking about buying an investment property this year?” Let me share a couple of  things that you may be interested in knowing if you’ve been having the same thought.

There are three main reasons why people buy investment properties: cash flow, appreciation, and tax savings. I think that 2021 might be one of the best times ever to purchase a property like this and potentially receive all three of those benefits at once.

What many of us have realized is that it has never been cheaper to borrow money than it is right now. Interest rates are at historically low levels and people are predicting they could go up soon, so now might be the right time to start discussing your next move.

I’m also seeing a lot of short-term rentals. People are hesitant to go out in large groups or stay in large hotels, but they’re still renting places for themselves and their families through sites like VRBO and Airbnb so they can get a little vacation.
